Last evening was a special night at Jung Martial Arts. Four of our 8–11 year old students stepped into the grading circle and showed what perseverance, courage, and focus truly look like.
One of our 10-year-old students faced his fears in the center of the circle for the very first time. By the third round he was smiling, moving with confidence, and showing the smooth technique that comes from trusting his training.
An amazing 8-year-old girl testing for her green belt, the intermediate stage for her age and ability, demonstrated tremendous growth since her last grading. Her confidence, focus, and sharpened skill sets made her progress clear to everyone in the room.
Another determined 8-year-old girl graded up to advanced orange belt. She channeled her natural drive into pure focus, nailing her requirements with a determination that would not let anything stand in her way.
And finally, our 11-year-old blue belt candidate took his skills to a whole new level. After showing a strong grasp of Hapkido fundamentals, he completed his third round blindfolded, successfully joining with his partner’s movements, identifying the fulcrum, and responding without sight. He demonstrated impressive skill in his awareness.
The grading board was comprised of five black belts, three of whom once stood in the same circle at the same age. To see the next generation rising to meet the challenge is a reminder of why we train: courage, growth, and perseverance.
This is where it starts. And these kids proved they are ready for the journey ahead.
