On Monday July 21st we wrapped up our final grading for the month of July. This time, it was John M, one of our adult students who stepped into the Spirit Circle and earned his Yellow Belt. After completing three focused and determined rounds, he demonstrated the kind of growth that reminds us all that HapKiDo is a journey for every age.
This month has been filled with inspiring moments. From our youngest Tiny Tigers, just 5 and 6 years old, to older children pushing themselves in new and challenging ways, and now an adult stepping up with the same courage and commitment. Every grading this month has reflected the heart of our program, which is not just about technique, but about transformation.
On July 10th, a ten-year-old student graded up during a class with older students. She faced three tough rounds in the Spirit Circle and rose to the occasion with noticeable growth in confidence and self-discipline. Her performance was a clear sign of what happens when perseverance meets purpose.
Just a few days later, several students between the ages of 6 and 8 graded up after demonstrating their skill sets, going three rounds in the circle, and breaking boards with their chosen techniques. One of those students even led the warm-up for the group, setting the tone for a truly memorable morning. For that student, the moment was even more meaningful, as his father, a HapKiDo black belt, had the honor of tying on his new belt.
Each of these moments tells a larger story. A story of growth, not just in skill, but in character. Of students who learn to try again when things are hard. Of families who support them through every step. Of instructors and black belts who give their time and guidance to help others rise.
July was a month of breakthroughs, of first belts and powerful moments of realization. Congratulations to every student who graded up this month, and to the parents, guardians, and training partners who made it possible. Together, we are building more than martial artists. We are shaping strong, confident people.
