Attention Ghouls and Goblins! It is that time of the year again! Soon the mornings will be crisp, the trees ablaze in beautiful color, and the sweet scent of the falling leaves warming in the afternoon sun will fill the air. As Halloween approaches it also means that it is time for the annual JMAFC HapKiDo “Kick or Treat” Costume Contest. This year the kids will be treated to a movie too!
The costume contest is for current JMAFC members between the ages of 5 and 12. Remember though, no matter how many trips around the sun you have made, you are welcome to dress up too!
While it’s always exciting to see the joy on kids’ faces as they collect their treats, we will be only handing out healthy, but tasty, treats and snacks. No sugary treats. Please keep that in mind if your little goblin brings a treat to hand out, although bringing a treat to share is not required or expected.

At JMAFC we are committed to our students physical and emotional well-being. Juvenile diabetes both type 1 and type 2, is on the rise, and too much sugar in children’s diets is a contributing factor to unhealthy habits.
By choosing healthier options, we can help kids enjoy Halloween without compromising their long-term health. Together, we can make a difference in fighting the rise of juvenile diabetes and promoting healthier habits.
YES you can! However, they need to have a signed parental / guardian permission form and are expected to follow all Dojang rules of behavior and may not participate in the costume contest. But as far as Safe, Healthy Fun and the Movie they are good to go!
